One of the questions we’re asked most often is “what songs will you perform at my wedding?” With all of the great songs to choose from, couples want to be sure that the band is going to deliver the songs that their guests will love, and that will get the party moving.

Part 1 Wedding Song list
Let’s take a look at wedding songs, and what to consider.
Any pro wedding band is going to have an incredible song list for you to choose from. These are called ‘Repertoire lists’ (fancy) or sometimes just ‘Wedding song list’ and they provide a great insight into what your band can bring to you wedding. Typically, your band will outline several different styles and genres that they perform regularly. The wedding song list gives you a chance to pick some favourites, and maybe cross off some of the songs you would rather not hear (…like the Macarena)

Part 2 Which Wedding songs?
Now that you have the bands wedding song list in front of you, you can choose your favourites. Should be simple enough. But there might be more to consider. Keep in mind that the wedding is going to be a large social gathering. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, the wedding party….it’s a lot of different people. So the first thing to consider is, “what songs are going to work best for my guests” …The good news is, if you’ve hired a professional band (such as ourselves) they already know what works well! They’ve made a career out of it.
Part 3 ..Fine, but it’s Myyy wedding!?!

This is true, you have gone to a great deal of trouble and expense to plan the perfect day, and it should absolutely be a reflection of your style and taste. Just keep in mind that your favourite jams, may stop a dance floor cold. …Ever see that thing in the movies where someone is dancing really awkwardly, the records scratches and everyone stops and stares….this is what the wrong songs will do at your wedding. The Party. Just. Stops. But if you’ve found the right band, they’re going to be able to work in your fav’s along with a number of incredible hits that are going to take things to the next level. You just might want to save the Thrash Metal or Emo ballad for another day.
Part 4 Wedding Song Requests
Your wedding band is an incredible team of professionals, who learn and play music for a living. A few requests shouldn’t be a problem, especially for first dances! Keep in mind, the wedding song list your band has provided you; that has undergone quite a bit of research. These songs have been performed for hundreds of weddings all over the globe, to thousands of happy wedding guests. In other words, these songs work really well! Once the band has to stray away from their wedding tested, dance floor approved song list…there’s no telling how these requests will be received by your guests. So, which requests becomes an issue of quality over quantity. For example, if you and your entire wedding party had a dance routine you would bust out whenever “backstreet’s back” would play, then that’s a great request! If you’re a huge Enya fan, but you’re not sure if anyone else is…it’s probably not a great wedding song request.
